Inside the image.
A square album cover in muted parchment colours shows a crowded, apparently historical gathering arranged around a long table. A pale, mottled beige ground fills the image, with a faintly worn, uneven surface and no distinct border. The central scene occupies the upper half: a dense group of robed and armoured-looking figures gathers on either side of a long, light-coloured table, while a standing figure near the centre faces the people to the left. The gathering stretches across the width of the cover. Figures overlap in the foreground and recede into a hazy, lightly sketched background; indistinct architecture, including a curved structure at the far right, rises behind them.
At the left, a tightly packed group raises long objects, some resembling staffs, spears or instruments; a few figures have helmets or head coverings. Across the table, smaller groups face inward, with several standing figures at the right and seated or crouching figures in front. The fine details are softened, so individual faces and many objects cannot be made out clearly. A round, ornate emblem is centred above the scene near the top edge: a gold-toned circular design with dark outlines, curling shapes and a small cross-like form at its centre. Names appear in dark lettering to either side of it.
The palette is subdued, dominated by yellowed cream, tan, olive brown and charcoal, with the gathering rendered in a darker, sepia-like range against the lighter ground. The image has an aged, illustration-like appearance: outlines and shading are visible, but the softened detail makes the exact technique uncertain. Large decorative lettering occupies the lower portion, in dark olive-brown with irregular, embellished strokes and a slightly distressed appearance. A smaller line of text sits directly beneath it, followed by a tiny mark near the bottom centre.
What the image evokes.
The cover has the air of an old chronicle or a scene copied from a weathered book: its pale, stained ground and subdued, hand-drawn crowd suggest an image that has survived through time. The central table gives the gathering a ceremonial gravity, while the raised shapes at the left lend it a more tumultuous edge. It feels poised between pageantry and commotion, with the figures’ small scale making the event seem collective rather than centred on a single hero.
The round emblem above the crowd reads like a seal or medallion, a still, balanced ornament set against the busy human scene below. The title’s heavy, irregular letters echo the antique mood without blending entirely into the illustration; they form a firm visual base beneath the pale, receding crowd. The result can feel at once solemn and theatrical, like a remembered public gathering staged in the softened light of legend, though the indistinct details leave room for other readings.
