A CLOSER LOOK / 01

Inside the image.

A square album cover combines a large hand-drawn title with a colour photograph of a rural landscape. The view looks across a patchwork of green fields and scattered buildings towards a broad, rugged mountain that rises across the middle of the image. Its uneven summit sits just left of centre, with brown and olive tones on the sunlit slopes and darker green areas lower down. A low chain of hills continues to the right. In the foreground, narrow bands of field, hedges and trees form a layered valley; small pale buildings are visible among the fields, especially towards the left and along the lower edge. Fine branches with sparse leaves enter from the upper right and extend down the right edge, partly overlapping the mountain and sky.

The mountain is the main visual anchor, set beneath a pale, cloudy sky that fills the upper third. The landscape recedes from the darker, more detailed foreground into softer, hazier distances. Greens dominate the valley, while the mountain carries muted ochre, brown and grey. The light is diffuse, with brighter areas on the upper slopes and no sharply defined shadows. A narrow strip of dark vegetation and shadow runs along the bottom edge.

The word “Evviva!” spans the upper left and centre, placed over the sky and partly above the mountain. Its very large, irregular rounded letters are a deep reddish brown with a narrow golden-orange offset edge or shadow, giving the lettering a slightly raised, cut-out appearance. The initial E is capitalised and an exclamation mark ends the word. Along the bottom, the smaller white serif inscription “Côr Godre’r Aran” is centred over the dark landscape. The cover has no visible border. The photographic landscape and oversized playful lettering create a clear division between the expansive scenery below and the title above.

ASSOCIATIONS & IMPRESSIONS / 02

What the image evokes.

The cover pairs a sweeping view with lettering that feels buoyant and almost hand-painted. “Evviva!” seems to leap across the quiet sky, its warm red and amber tones echoing the earthy colours of the mountain while adding a note of celebration. The landscape itself is measured and spacious: fields, hedges and small settlements sit quietly beneath the mountain, whose scale makes the nearby human traces feel modest.

There is a gentle tension between the title’s exuberance and the photograph’s calm. The exclamation mark brings a burst of voice to a scene that otherwise seems still, while the branches at the right edge make the view feel observed from a particular spot rather than presented as an abstract panorama. The result can suggest an announcement or toast made in the open air, though the image leaves the occasion unspecified. Its simple combination of a real landscape and bold, informal display lettering has the directness of a keepsake or a scenic greeting card, with the mountain giving that lightness a more grounded, enduring presence.
