Gwentian

Inside the image.

A square cover in a deep sepia palette shows a dim, cluttered interior, with a seated or hunched figure dominating the right foreground. The figure is seen in profile or three-quarter view, bent forward over a long, dark diagonal object that reaches from the lower left towards their hands and shoulder; its exact nature is unclear. The head and upper body form a near-black silhouette against the brighter background, while a little warm light catches the face and clothing. The person is partly cropped by the right and lower edges.

A dark angular framework fills much of the lower half: rails or bars cross the foreground, including a sloping line at left and a horizontal bar just above the bottom. A rectangular, chair-like structure sits near the centre, with a rounded dark form at its left end. Behind the figure, an indistinct collection of pale, warm-toned forms suggests equipment or furnishings in a cramped room. A large, curved dark shape hangs into the upper left, and shadowed vertical surfaces enclose the scene. The background is soft and hazy, with no clear exterior view; the stronger foreground silhouettes and overlapping bars create a layered, enclosed composition.

The image is treated like a heavily sepia-toned photograph, with golden amber highlights against brown and almost-black shadows. Light is concentrated in the central and left background, fading into darkness towards the right edge and corners. The image has a soft, blurred quality, especially in the background, while the figure, diagonal object and foreground rails read as sharper dark shapes. There is no separate border.

Large lettering sits across the upper portion. The words “YR HWNTWS” appear near the top centre, with “YR” in slender, narrow gold capitals and “HWNTWS” in much larger, bold white serif capitals. Along the right side, the letters of “Gwentian” are arranged vertically, one gold character below another, beginning near the top edge. The title lettering overlays the room and partly shares the space above the silhouetted figure.
