Inside the image.
A square graphic cover built from vivid cyan-blue, white and pale blue-grey. The design is dominated by oversized, overlapping serif letterforms: the word “ATLAS” stretches across the upper middle in very large, narrow, high-contrast capitals, with the letters crossing a white central panel and pale, enlarged letter shapes behind them. The main title is centred horizontally and occupies most of the panel’s width; its lower portions overlap a dense vertical cluster of much smaller lettering.
A bright blue band runs along the top edge, with a fine white rule beneath it. Near the upper left, small white capitals read “DIPYN BACH MWY O”. The large white field below is framed by blue at the top and bottom. Within it, pale blue-grey letterforms—especially an enormous, partly cropped “A” at the left and broad curving strokes towards the right—sit behind the title. Their low contrast makes them feel like a faint typographic backdrop rather than separate readable words.
Beneath “ATLAS”, many fine, narrow letterforms repeat in close vertical columns, mainly in blue and pale grey. They form a curtain-like texture from just below the top line of the title to near the bottom of the white panel, with irregular edges and varying opacity. Smaller repetitions of “ATLAS” and fragments of its letters appear across and around this cluster. A second cyan-blue band forms the lower edge of the composition. Faint, overlapping lettering is concentrated near its lower right and along the bottom, while a thinner patch rises from the lower left. No figures or photographic imagery are visible; the artwork is typographic and graphic, using scale, repetition, overlap and contrast to create its depth.
What the image evokes.
The huge “ATLAS” seems to be both a title and a landscape to cross: its tall letters make pale architecture behind them, while the smaller repetitions gather like streets, trees or lines of print on a map. The cyan bands give the image a crisp, almost sign-like structure, but the central field is restless. Words accumulate, fade and collide, as if a single name were being looked at through layers of tracing paper.
There is a tension between the title’s stately, classical serifs and the busy, almost mechanical multiplication beneath it. The result can suggest an old book’s formal lettering caught in a contemporary graphic system, or a map whose labels have become the terrain itself. The vertical strands lend the centre a woven quality, though everything remains unmistakably made of letters. Clear and airy at first glance, the cover grows denser the longer it is viewed; its order depends on repetition rather than stillness.
