Inside the image.
A square album cover combines a close photographic portrait with large Welsh lettering. An older man with short white hair, thin metal-framed glasses and a black collared shirt fills most of the left half. He faces the viewer, smiling slightly with his mouth open. His head is near the top edge, and the crop cuts off his shoulders and torso at the bottom and left edges. Soft, even light falls across his face; the dark shirt provides a strong contrast with the pale skin and hair.
Behind him is a softly blended sky in lavender, blue and rose-pink, with a brighter band of pink near the horizon. The portrait overlaps this background, while the typography occupies the open space on the right. The large title is arranged in several lines: a small, narrow uppercase word sits above the much larger name, whose white first line and deep blue-purple second line stand out against the sky. Beneath it, a column of smaller white uppercase song titles runs down the right side. A short line of light-blue text sits along the bottom, over the dark shirt and lower background. The cover has no visible border.
The design is photographic with a digitally composed appearance: the portrait and sky are combined with layered type. The title lettering has pronounced serifs and contrasting thick and thin strokes; the smaller list is set in compact uppercase letters. Some of the smallest lettering is difficult to make out at this scale.
What the image evokes.
The cover balances the intimacy of a face-to-face portrait with the formal display of a title and song list. The man’s direct gaze and slight smile make the image feel personal and approachable, while the tall, stately lettering gives it a ceremonial note. The title seems to rise into the open sky, and its change from white to blue-purple echoes the soft shift from cloud-bright pink to evening violet behind it.
The pastel sky lends the cover a gentle, almost sentimental calm. Set against it, the black shirt anchors the composition and gives the portrait weight; the face remains the brightest and most immediate point of attention. The result has something of a keepsake or commemorative portrait about it, though the compact list of songs and bold display type also suggest a traditional printed songbook cover. Its warmth is restrained rather than exuberant: a familiar face, a quiet smile and a fading-sky palette held within a neat, carefully ordered design.
