A square cover combines a large monochrome portrait with a layered green background. A light-skinned man, shown from the upper chest upwards, fills most of the centre and right side. His dark, wavy hair is brushed back from his forehead and curls around the sides; he faces towards the left of the image, looking slightly upwards with a serious, intent expression. Strong light catches his forehead, nose, cheek and the front of his neck, while deeper shadows define his eyes, hair and jaw. Foliage-like silhouettes and irregular leafy shapes are visible near the top and in the lower background; some appear dark and sharply edged, while others are blurred or subdued. The green field has a layered, uneven appearance, with lighter patches around the left of the man's face and darker areas towards the edges. There is no distinct frame or border.

Large pale cream serif lettering occupies the upper left, arranged on two lines as “ELWYN” and “JONES”. The capital letters are tall and narrow, with pronounced thick and thin strokes. A translucent-looking lighter green horizontal block sits behind the name, separating it from the darker band above. Along the left side, below the name, smaller cream capitals run vertically, rotated to read from bottom to top: “20 O’I GANEUON GORAU”. The vertical text sits close to the edge and beside the man's shoulder. The title and portrait overlap in the composition, with the figure's hair and head reaching into the space to the right of the lettering.
