This gives the composition a pleasing push and pull between movement and repose. The mountain setting may suggest an excursion into a cool, secluded valley: the blue sky is spacious, but the wooded slopes close in around the water. There is a sense of freshness and distance, softened by the familiar, almost postcard-like framing of the scene. The large “20” and the blue nameplate lend the image a distinctly formal, commemorative air, as though a landscape photograph has been fitted into a neat printed label.
